BadVista.org, I proud of you?

John Sullivan, program administrator of The Free Software Foundation (FSF) a campaign against Microsoft (Windows) Vista.  I am interesting on this (I don’t care on what they want to do with Microsoft).

“Vista is an upsell masquerading as an upgrade. It is an overall regression when you look at the most important aspect of owning and using a computer: your control over what it does. Obviously MS Windows is already proprietary and very restrictive, and well worth rejecting. But the new ‘features’ in Vista are a Trojan Horse to smuggle in even more restrictions. We’ll be focusing attention on detailing how they work, how to resist them, and why people should care”,

There are two things that can sort out here:

  1. Bad thing on previous version of Windows is security issues.  Windows Vista introducing new security features that leading to: taking full control over computer off user’s hand.
  2. When Windows less secure it should be blame. When it  become more secure, again it need to be blame.

At the below line of same page I noticed this:

The FSF promotes the development and use of free (as in freedom) software—particularly the GNU operating system and its GNU/Linux variants— and free documentation for free software.

GNU/Linux is a good deal (if they give us full set of features without paying them).  By then, the User Account Control (UAC) introducing in Windows Vista that limit user right isn’t that same thing that have in GNU/Linux or OS X for ages. Sullivan, please don’t speak half fact.

I wholely agree that FSF needs to get on track or lose big. I posted my own thoughts on BadVista here: http://duckdown.blogspot.com/2006/12/thoughts-on-bad-vista.html.
