Server ‘Longhorn’ may get official name around Beta3
Back to year 2005 when Microsoft announced the official name of Longhorn client, Windows Vista. The speculation on the name of Longhorn server is begin and the most believed it should named as Windows Server 2007. By follow the same trend of Windows Server 2003. The name “Windows Server 2007″ still floating around. Lately, Redmondmag referring to the post on ActiveWin reported that Microsoft confirmed the official name of Window Server “Longhorn”, Windows Server 2007. It continued with “Microsoft spokesperson “strongly” cautioned against reporting an official name until Microsoft actually announces it. However, the spokesperson also pointed to a blog entry from July 27, 2005 — the date that Longhorn Beta 1 was released — for further reference. That posting stated the company’s intention to name the final release “Windows Server 200x“. The post of Julius Sinkevicius can be found here inwhich he stated the name.
Helene said on Windows Server Division Weblog that the possible name will never be Vista Server and also pointed to what David stated last year. She also continues with “So, if I were going to bet on a name, I’d say tune in when we release Beta 3 and you’ll find out“. Do you get a clue?
