New Yahoo Search: Alpha Project

I did Live search something on Yahoo beta but what I found is a Search project called “” which lead by Yahoo! 7 Search team. Some  on April 5:

Yesterday, the Yahoo!7 Search team began testing a beta service called Alpha that was born out of pizza and furious coding.

Whilst aggregating feeds on one page is nothing new, we wanted to take a federated search concept one step further. With this beta, we have introduced personalisation elements that not only allow users to customise their view, but also to add their favourite search service (at least those who syndicate their search results via OpenSearch RSS).

We also decided to add a sharing element for logged in users of the site. Now, if you decide to share your personalised url with others, they can view and effectively use the search configuration you have developed

I have no idea what Yahoo! Search will do or what they think. I found not much info on it’s blog about the idea of this project but seems they start the thing from ground up, not just improving or adding new features to current search. Btw, Alpha has very clean interface– let’s play with it

How to Install Ubuntu on Virtual PC 2007

Well, I was tired with Virtual PC when it not support Linux as Guest OS. Last few months I tried to install Ubuntu on Virtual PC 2007, that time it still in Beta, but never success.  Thus I have to move to VMware Workstation but not fully Vista compatible. One of my habit is I don’t install more than one program to do the same job. Just like I don’t install other media player software (WinAmp, iTune, Real, ect.) while I already have Windows Media Player 11.

I found a guide wrote by Arcane Code on ““. He providing great guide, very clear and easy to follow with screenshot. If you running Virtual PC 2007 and want to try Ubuntu, the guide is where you start with.

Shrink System Restore space? think again

I have been wonder when people try to find a way to tweak it system, by manual with command-line, software or others. I learnt from the past that the process is always come with risk and reduce the stability of my system. Most of time I do minimum tweak by hand on what I am understanding rather well. Most of thing people did with Windows XP is disable System Restore and some days later they got problem with some software (like install Vista Transformation Pack) then there has no way to bring system back to the stable stat.

With Windows Vista, people start to write a tip to reduce space usage of System Restore. Well, I never think if it useful. It more to play risk with any accident you made to system or just an important file. I ever been accidentally delete a 4 GB file, imagine if I need to download it again, Previous Version help me a lot on this.

If you about to reduce the System Restore space, read what — he also providing you alternative way.

CPUCool and Vista Gadget

I am always looking for a Vista sidebar gadget to monitor CPU temp and fan speed but it never available on Gadget Gallery. The most CPU utilities related stuff are the duplicate CPU monitor gadget. Thanks to Dave for

I did Live search and found . CPU Cool is small software/utility cost $17.95, which come with a lot cool features. It can monitor CPU temp and Fan speed together on what I need, a Vista gadget.

CPUCool Sidebare gadget

The limitation is it only support Vista 32-bit and Sidebar gadget is just a plain gadget, no any style was applied. To note, after setting display data to Vista sidebar you need to add it manually to sidebar.

Photoshop CS3: Restore Down Windows not support Aero Glass

I was just install Adobe Photoshop CS3 yesterday for a new taste. The new design and features is expressive at first sign while the installation time is the hell for me (it’s took up nearly a hour — badly when comparing to installation time of Windows Vista).

The performance of CS3 on my computer is acceptable but one problem which exist on CS2 still there on CS3.

Photoshop CS3 on Vista

I expecting that the “restore down windows” will support Aero Glass effect of Windows Vista but the actual result is the ugly Classic (theme) while the main Photoshop Windows is Glass supported.

Well, do you get the same result as me?

I am back

I just getting back from my home town. I have been working on rubber tree garden for re-plantation. It’s very great time and I really love it. I looking for next change to be at home with my parent. Well, nice to you all again around here.
