Note to those you addicted to Hotmail, there will be not Hotmail anymore. With no choice you may need to adapt to classic version of Live Hotmail. For me, I love Live Hotmail’s UI and functionality– far above Gmail and Yahoo Mail beta.

Finally, Windows Live Hotmail and Oops!

tagged and

While the latest update of Windows Live Mail is reached its seem to be final milestone, , the . It will become “Windows Live Hotmail”.

When we launch the mail service worldwide, it will be named Windows Live Hotmail. That’s right! And for starters, some of you will begin to see the Windows Live Hotmail brand show up in the beta – first in our Microsoft internal version (dogfood) and eventually in the public version in the coming weeks.

It was the days before that the team said ‘Hotmail is no more, we’re going to be solely Live Mail”.  Live Mail is official name from the beginning not likely to be a codename, even sometimes we have seen the name changed to be “Office Live Mail”. What is the reason behind name change? Richard Sim, Senior Product Manager gives this answer.

We also found that many users were extremely loyal to the Hotmail brand and perceived the beta as an upgrade to Hotmail. In fact, our most loyal users have been very happy with Hotmail for years and while they loved the improvements in the beta, some were a bit confused by name change.

Continues with:

As we prepare to launch the final version of our new web mail service, we recognize the importance of ensuring that our 260+ million existing customers come over to the new service smoothly and without confusion. By adopting the name “Windows Live Hotmail”, we believe we’re bringing together the best of both worlds – new and old. We’re able to offer the great new technology that Windows Live has to offer while also bringing the emotional connection many existing and loyal users have with Hotmail.

The old topic debate already begin at Live Mail blog, mostly they prefer and refer to “Live Mail” as opinion of early adopter. Well, we will hear more from blogger. While Sim referring to the feedback, what we don’t know is amount of ordinary user’s opinion.

At this point, I see that the name is the name. It can be whether Live Mail or Live Hotmail but it should focus on user friendly interface, ease of user and performance to reduce the pain of transition of those loyal Hotmail user. Oh, I forget, Windows Live Hotmail is more to be an ugly name.

Hundreds Viagra give away

tagged and

It’s my mad? No, I am not talking about I have hundreds of Viagra but spam mails. My original gmail account become a room for Viagra things. Last week alone I got hundreds of spam mail in both inbox and spam box. Most of them is Viagra thing. This account is as old as Gmail service but I am not use it as much as the older Hotmail account. Comparing to Hotmail account, it already 5 years old and I used it for general use but never collect much spam as I got from Gmail. What’s happened then? Say Gmail come with advanced spam filter but what I have seen is Gmail preserve most of spam for me in spam box. Why? or is that the definition of “spam” is changed? or some spam may useful as Google’s executive has said?

It come to my concern when some G-society geeks asking why I use Windows Live Custom Domain for my another site instead of Google Apps for Your Domain. Despliting of I was a early beta tester of WLCD and the advantage of using Windows Live ID, spam over my several Gmail accounts make me worried. I know the way to use filter but is that the thing for every user to protect themselves? Isn’t Gmail who should respond for this, isn’t it?. Acknowledges that careless user may causing spam but for is not the case.

What should I do with this Viagra thing? If you want, email me otherwise I will forward to Google’s Executive. Perhaps, it’s useful.

Gmail: welcome my first spam!

tagged

I always wonder when Google and/or G-society claim Gmail is advanced in spam protection. Normally, Gmail will sort out most (or probably ’some’) of spam mails into spam box.  As I remember some of Google’s executive said: some of spam may be useful for user so they will not automatically delete it. Then Gmail will keep them in spam box. I heritage to believe if spam is useful for me in some degree.  Most of them is repeatly some kind of advertisement e.g. Viagra, online gambling, cheap OEM.  But I don’t believe if I need Viagra in my age (my device still working great!!). Or gambling is remarkably not my way.  And.. spam is always defined as ’spam’.
